Mr. Kenneth Lee Wimberley, age 50, of Rock Springs, GA, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011 in the Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN. He was born in Polk County, TN on July 28, 1961. He was a Business Analyst for Propex, Inc. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of McCaysville, a member of the Blue Ridge Lodge #67 F&AM, and a United States Navy veteran. Ken received an AAS degree in Management and Supervisory Development from Northwestern Technical College in 2001. He received a BBA in Accounting and Finance from American Intercontinental University in 2007. Ken was a presenter at the Americas' SAP Users Group (ASUG) National Conference in 2009. Kenneth was a Scout in Troop 14 of Ducktown and then Troop 32 of Epworth where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, the mountains and hiking. While a Scout, he hiked the Philmont Scout Reservation Wilderness of New Mexico with Troop 32. He was gifted working with his hands, creating several items for family members on his wood lathe in his shop. Ken also loved to watch the Falcons. He loved our three horses, the cats and spoiled them all. He is survived by his wife, Tracy Wimberley of Rock Springs, GA; parents, Shelbia and Nick Wimberley of McCaysville, GA; brother, Timothy Glenn (Mary) Wimberley of Suwanee, GA; father-in-law, Elliott Wiener of Wellington, FL; mother-in-law, Dodi Wiener of Rock Springs, GA; grandmother, Blanche Wimberley of Ducktown, TN; one uncle, 3 nieces and several cousins. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, August 28, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Matthew McDaniel and Rev. Scott Graves officiating. Music was by Harry and Katie Gilbert. Pallbearers were Bill Tilley, Jim Barker, Lane Welch, Kenny Cook, Bryant Welch, David Whittenbarger, and Mason Brewer. Masonic services were provided by Blue Ridge Lodge #67 F&AM. Military honors were by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Interment followed in Crestlawn Cemetery.
