Obituary

Kenneth Clay Whitener, age 83, of Blue Ridge, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022 in Atlanta. He was born on March 7, 1939 in Cherry Log, to the late Robert Lee Whitener and Dolly Miller Whitener. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Bob Whitener, Ruth Herendon, Mary Sue Whitener, Edman Whitener, and Mamie Whitener. He is survived by his children, Wesley Whitener, Matthew Whitener, Stewart Whitener, and two daughters; grandchildren, Clay Whitener, Karlee McHan, Luke Whitener, Regina "Gina" Whitener, and Heaven Whitener; great-grandchildren, Aiden Whitener, Addison Whitener, and Stryker McHan; and brothers, Charles Whitener and James Lee Whitener. A private graveside service was conducted on Sunday, July 24, 2022 from the Underwood Cemetery with Rev. Luke Whitener officiating. Pallbearers were Kelly Patton, Justin Green, Luke Whitener, Clay Whitener, Wesley Whitener, Matthew Whitener, Michael Whitener, and James Lee Whitener. Honorary pallbearers were Aiden Whitener, Addison Whitener, Gina Whitener, and Heaven Whitener. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
