Mr. Kenneth Daris "K.D." Mealer, age 81, of Epworth, GA passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2013 in the LifeCare Center of Athens in Athens, TN. Mr. Mealer was born in Postelle, TN on May 4, 1932 to the late Gus Mealer and Mae Bell Howard Mealer. He was a Mining Foreman for Tennessee Copper Company and was a member of Temple Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Mealer of Epworth, GA; children and spouses, Teresa Davis DeWease and Phillip DeWease of Greenville, SC, Darris Wayne Mealer and Gail Mealer of Turtletown, TN, Helen Destin of Destin, FL, and William Paul Cook of Cleveland, TN; sister, Leona Martin Coleman of Turtletown, TN; five grandchildren, Adam Davis, Phillip Davis, Mindy Mealer Loudermilk, Lisa Harris Rose, and William Wesley Cook; and five great grandchildren, Colt Davis, John Rose, Jacob Rose, Ryley Rose, and Jackson Rose. A graveside service was held Friday, May 24, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. from the Temple Church Cemetery with Rev. Don Padgett and Rev. Wayne Morgan officiating. Music was by Phillip DeWease and The Elliott Brothers. Honorary pallbearer was Scott Brown.
