Katherine Sue Franklin, age 90, of McCaysville, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2020 at her home. She was born in Copperhill, on July 29, 1930 to the late Martin Luther Talley and Etta Pauline Lanning Talley. She was a member of New Canaan Baptist Church. Katherine was a Godly, loving, mother and grandmother, who believed in the power of prayer. She was always smiling, and had a kind heart to everyone she knew. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Franklin; daughter, Rebecca York; sister, Margie Welch; grandson, Christopher Allen Franklin; great-grandson, Ricky Hoffman III; and son-in-law, Michael Bond. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Cynthia McFall, Perry and Margaret Franklin, Roseanna Bond, Keith and Bonnie Franklin, Gary and Debbie Franklin, Amanda and David O'Neal, David and Brenda Franklin, and Regina Prince; siblings, Shelby Runion and Phillip Talley; twenty grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at 2:00 PM from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Nathan Stuart and Rev. David O'Neal officiating. Music was provided by Christina Rush and Susan Mills. Interment followed in the Mobile Baptist Church Cemetery. Christopher Prince, Brian Franklin, Jason Franklin, Kenneth York, Josh O'Neal, Joseph O'Neal, Zachary Franklin, Tyler Gibson, and Dylane Bond served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were River Stuart and Timothy Kibble. The family visited with friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM.
