Mrs. Julia (Ray) Nicholson, age 87, of Dalton, GA passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at Wood Dale Health Care Center in Dalton, GA. She was a native and former resident of Fannin County and the Copper Basin, daughter of the late James Henry (the old root digger) Ray and Annie Anderson Ray. She had worked as custodian at Copperhill Post Office and the Copperhill YMCA. She was of the Baptist Faith.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Luther Eugene Trammell and Edward Lewis Nicholson, three children Joyce Trammell, Virginia Mull and Robert Trammell and two grandsons, Kevin and Brian Trammell.
She is survived by four sons, Hubert Nicholson of Dalton, GA, Max Nicholson of Chatsworth, GA, Carl Trammell of Mineral Bluff, GA, and Luther Trammell of Copperhill, TN; thirteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, July 13, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Dr. Tom Jordan officiating. Interment followed in Chastain Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Allen and Jason Nicholson, Randy and Rob Ray, David, Terry and Dewayne Trammell. Donations in memory of Mrs. Nicholson may be made to the McCaysville Church of God Building Fund.
