Julia Mae Bridges, age 50, of McCaysville, GA, passed away on September 7, 2021 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born in Murphy, NC on December 8, 1970. She was a member of the Little Glade Baptist Church in Murphy, NC. Julia had worked as CNA and Medical Aide for a number of years in the tri-state area. She was preceded in death by her father, William Harold Johnson; and one brother, Richard Rex Johnson. Survivors include her husband, Van Phillips of the home; son and fiance, Marcus Edward Brown and Miranda York of Ducktown, TN; daughters and son-in-law, Cassandra Mae and Bradley Jessen of Ducktown, TN and Selina Marie Brown of McCaysville, GA; mother, Bertha Lee Johnson of Murphy, NC; grandchildren, Aurora Mae Jessen, Ashlyn Marie Jessen and Parker Edward Brown; and one brother, Darrin Johnson. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel in Copperhill with Rev. Ronnie Palmer officiating. Interment will follow in the Crestlawn Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Brett Sisson, Jonathan Grizzell, Devin Lee, Bradley Jessen, Marcus Brown and Jared Brown.
