Joyce Horton Waters, age 79, of Copperhill, TN passed away on July 25, 2025, in Cleveland, TN. Joyce was born in Jackson, AL on March 22, 1946, to the late Joel Leonard and Edna Lorane Thompson Horton. She was a lifelong member of Forrest Avenue Baptist Church in Jackson, AL. She enjoyed needlework, puzzles, computer games and the fellowship with the members of Friendship Chapter #499 O.E.S of which she had been a member for over 50 years. Joyce had retired from Shaw Industries in Chatsworth, GA where she worked as a machine operator for over 30 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, James W. Waters; children, Infant William Waters and Mark Waters; grandchild, Louvetia O'Neal; and two siblings, Vickie Henson and Joel Horton.

Survivors include her son, Sidney Freeman; step-children, Vickie Talbert, Cheri Waters and Jeff (Beverly) Waters; grandchildren, Nicholas Waters, Holly Waters, Samuel Wright, Franklin Waters, Jeffen Waters, Anthony Martin, Chris Martin and Sarah Martin; great grandchildren, Raven Ross, T.J. Ross, Trinity Cook, Isla Waters, Wyatt Waters, Cohen Davis, Kora Davis, Cane Davis, Sydney Deal, Inman Martin, Natalie Martin, Sawyer Martin and Gavin Martin; sister, June Crosby; and her sweet canine companion Forest Gump Waters.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday, July 28, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Chapel in Copperhill, TN with Rev. Gary Waters officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Zion (Tumbling Creek) Baptist Church Cemetery and Austin Richards, Jeffen Waters, Nathan Newman, and Anthony Martin served as a pallbearers. Friendship Chapter #499 O.E.S. served as an honorary escort. The family received friends at the funeral home on Monday, July 28, 2025, prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
