Joyce Ann "Joy" Green, age 71 of Morganton passed away on Friday, June 14, 2019 at home. She was born on May 1, 1948 in Blue Ridge. Joy was a client at Mineral Springs Center for forty-four years and loved stringing beans and making kraut (a.k.a. crafts) at the center. She lived a full life and will always be a human corner stone brick in the foundational wall of the life at the Mineral Springs Center. Joy was of the Baptist Faith and loved music, especially Brooks and Dunn. She enjoyed watching television shows of Hee-Haw, various game shows and M.A.S.H. Joy was preceded in death by mother, Kate Watkins; step-father, Grady Watkins; brother, Homer Green and sister, Sharon Norton. Survivors are brother, Gralon Green of Morganton; sister and brother-in-law, Penny and Ricky Bradburn of Morganton; brother-in-law, Kenny Norton of Blue Ridge; niece, Layne (William) Lopez; nephews, Adam (Kristie) Norton, Cody Bradburn (Fianc, Desiree Patterson) and Bryson Bradburn and great nieces and nephews, Justin Green, Kristen Lopez, Reid Norton and Owen Norton. Funeral services were conducted on Monday, June 17, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. from the Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Eric Davenport officiating. A eulogy was given by Robin Davenport. Music was by Sara Kate Odom. Interment followed in the New Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ricky Bradburn, Cody Bradburn, Bryson Bradburn, William Lopez, Kenny Norton and Justin Green. Honorary Pallbearers were the Mineral Springs Center Staff and Clients.
