Joyce Faye Frontcakas passed away peacefully September 11 in Gainesville, Georgia, after a long illness, with family by her side. Joyce was born November 13, 1937, in Comanche, Oklahoma and was the second of nine children born to Arthur and Mary Gordon.
She married the love of her life Tadas Frontcakas on December 11, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois. She lived in Illinois, Indiana and Florida before moving to Fannin County Georgia in 2021.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband "Ted", and her brothers, Bobby Dale Gordon, Arthur Gordon Jr., Benny Gordon, and Tommy Joe Gordon.
She is survived by her two daughters, Mona (Don) Heggem of Cary Illinois and Mary (John) Tatum of Suches Georgia; three sons, John (Liz) Frontcakas of Ball Ground, Georgia, Tom Frontcakas of Suches, Georgia, and Tony (Kris) Frontcakas of Westville, Indiana; and 2 sisters, Linda Kaye (Bill) Allen of Duncan Oklahoma, Brenda Sue (Roy) Potts of Seminole Oklahoma, and 2 brothers, James (Brenda) Gordon of Comanche Oklahoma, and "Butch" (Pam) Gordon of Comanche, Oklahoma; sister in-law, Birdia Gordon of Comanche Oklahoma; plus nine grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
Joyce was a very talented athlete in high school and played basketball, softball, and volleyball for which she made MVP all four years. She was also very adventurous and noted to have chased tornados in her car, and one time found her trying to get out of the trunk. She was also an avid and skilled marksman.
In her later years she enjoyed crafts and was proficient at crocheting and needlepoint making arm warmers and lap blankets for dialysis patients in St Petersburg Florida, and many beautiful quilts and blankets for family and grandchildren.
All of whom loved her dearly and will never forget her devotion, compassion, and sense of humor.
A private service will be held at Akins-Cobb Funerals & Cremations in Blue Ridge Georgia on Friday September 15th.
