Joseph "Joe" Daniel LaFrance, age 80, of Blue Ridge, GA passed away on June 27, 2026 at his home following an extended illness. Joe was a veteran of the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era and served as an aircraft mechanic. He proudly served from 1965 until 1969. He retired from from the Georgia State Patrol where he worked for 30 years as a radio operator. Joe was a of the Baptist faith and was known for his love of firearms, motorcycles, and extensive knowledge of history. He was also a long time member of Blue Ridge Masonic Lodge #67 F&AM.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Daniel LaFrance, Sr. and Geneva Long LaFrance and a very special grandson, Matthew Campbell.
Survivors include his loving wife of fifty one years, Clara LaFrance; his children and their spouses, Rodney and Suzy Cambell, Cullen and Natalie LaFrance and Casey and Kristen LaFrance; grandchildren, Brenna (Todd) Chadwick, Jake and Ellah Campbell, Dylan Pearce, Addyson LaFrance, Maverick LaFrance, Ellinor LaFrance, Cash LaFrance and Violet LaFrance; and one great grandchild.
A memorial service to honor his life will be conducted on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Min. Pacer Cordry officiating. The family will recieve friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Childrens Health Care of Atlanta-Scottish Rite Hospital online at www.choa.org. The family would like to extend special gratitude to his nurse, Alexis Allen for the compassionate care she provided during Joe's illness.
