Johnny Thomas Twiggs, age 90, of Blue Ridge, GA passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2012 in the Copper Basin Medical Center in Ducktown, TN. Mr. Twiggs was born in Fannin County, GA on August 4, 1921 to the late Grover Cleveland Twiggs and Lilah Mae Thomas Twiggs. Mr. Twiggs worked as a steelrigger for Tennessee Chemical Company. He was a member of Damascus Baptist Church, a member of McCay Lodge #423 F&AM, and was a United States Army combat veteran serving in World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathreen "Reen" Whitlow Twiggs. He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Ronny and Paulette Twiggs of Blue Ridge, Charles and Connie Twiggs of White, GA and Gary and Brenda Twiggs of Blue Ridge; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Jim Dye of Blue Ridge; 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 16, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Billy Ray Queen and Min. Dennis Morris officiating. Music will be by the Beach Family. Pallbearers will be Shawn Twiggs, Jeremy Twiggs, Jon Twiggs, Randall Twiggs, Gene Twiggs, and Matthew Dye. Interment will follow in Crestlawn Cemetery.
