Johnnie Henry Payne, age 73, of Blue Ridge passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021 at his home. Johnnie was born on April 18, 1948 in Fannin County to the late Elmer Glenn Payne and Bertha Elizabeth Sosebee Payne. As a life long resident of Fannin County, he was a graduate of West Fannin High School in the class of 1967. Johnnie served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, and after returning home, he worked in construction and as a truck driver. Johnnie was loved by all that knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Bertha Payne; brothers, Grover Payne and Oscar Payne; and infant son, Charles Grover Payne. Johnnie is survived by his son, Tommy Payne of Blue Ridge; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Delmar Davenport officiating. Military honors were provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Interment followed in the Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery.
