Johnnie Brazelton McClure age 93 of Hardwick, GA passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Oconee Regional Medical Center, Inc of Milledgeville, GA. He was born on November 12, 1924 in Coghill, TN to the late James McClure and Lena Haralson McClure. Mr. McClure served from 1943 until 1948 in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He married and had five children in Washington, D.C., raised his children in the church, taught them to work hard with pride and to be honest. Mr. McClure moved back to Epworth, GA in 1966 to the family farm. He took trees to Davenport Lumber after clearing land on the farm. Mr. McClure worked for Life and Casualty Insurance Company and retired from Cities Service Company. He settled in Washington, D.C. owned a diner, was a taxi cab driver, was a farmer and always had other odd jobs going to make money. Mr. McClure was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, James "Jim" McClure, Gene H. McClure and Clinton Lee "Buddy" McClure. Survivors are his children, John McClure (Janice) of Thomasville, GA, Barbara Hubard of Mableton, GA, Betty Campbell (Tim) of Epworth, GA, Lena Rinehart (Mike) and Brenda Owenby (Vernon) of Epworth, GA; sister Nancy Elliott of Blue Ridge, GA and eight grandchildren, Caleb Owenby (Lauren), Sarah Owenby Rice (Isaac), Joyce McClure, Jennifer McClure, Christy Marie Hubard, Dr. Danielle Hubard, John Michael Rinehart and David Jacob Rinehart also survive. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Dr. Tom Jordan officiating. Music will be by Rev. Doug Simonds. Pallbearers will be Vernon Owenby, Caleb Owenby, Lee McClure, Isaac Rice, Terry McClure and Robert McClure. Interment will follow in the First Baptist Church of Epworth Cemetery with full military honors provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
