Mr. John Charles, better known as "J.J." Carlisle, age 49, of Marietta, GA passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Carlisle was born in Thomaston, GA to the late Willie and Lowanna Felts Carlisle. He graduated from Grady High School in 1977. Mr. Carlisle worked Flight Concepts in Norcross, GA manufacturing parachutes which supplied many of airborne forces in the United States. He traveled the country sky diving, having over four thousand jumps to his credit. He also was on a sky diving team that held a world record for stacking. Mr. Carlisle also enjoyed music, especially southern rock and playing his guitar. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Gary Carlisle; and his step-mother, Martha Carlisle. Survivors include brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Kay Carlisle of Acworth, GA; nieces and nephews, Christy McCants (Clint) of Ft. Largo, FL, Roxanne Carlisle of Decatur, GA, Michael (Erica) Carlisle of Bahgdad, Iraq, Steven (Kristin) of Acworth, GA; great nieces and nephews, Nick and Caitlyn Carlisle, both of Watertown, NY, Madison Carlisle of Acworth, GA, Blake and Brittany McCants both of Thomaston, GA, Bethany and Jarred Tindall of Ft. Largo, FL; great-great nieces and nephews, Becky, Beecher, and Kamryn McCants all of Thomaston, GA, and Bree Tindall of Ft. Largo, FL.A private memorial service will be held at a later date, honoring Mr. Carlisle's wishes.
