Mr. Joey John Bergum, age 34, of Mineral Bluff, GA passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at his home. He was born in Pontiac, MI on January 30, 1976. He was formerly employed with Home Depot in Blue Ridge but more recently had joined the United States Army to serve his country. Mr. Bergum was also a volunteer with the Fannin County Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard John Bergum; and his grandmother, Barbara "G-G" Bergum. He is survived by his wife, Crissy J. Bergum of Mineral Bluff; children, Jeremiah Caleb Bergum, Joey Cristopher Bergum, and Andrey Jeanne Bergum, all of the home; mother, Catherine Jeanne Bergum of Minnesota; sisters, Jody Holtslander-Millsaps of Blue Ridge, Jenny Kock of Minnesota, and Andrea Ashton of Michigan; grandmother, JoAnne Groves; grandfathers, Dave Groves and Eugene Monroe; uncles and aunts, Laura (Monroe) and Roger Denhart, Brad Steinman, Linda Bergum, Gordon and Mona Bergum, Jeff (Becky) Monroe, Phredd Groves and David Groves; cousins, Brooke Steinman, Jeff Steinman, Amber Matthew, Bailee Holtslander, Joel, J.J., Joshua, and Joanna. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from the Fannin County Veteran's Park with Chaplain Holly, Dr. Tom Jordan, and Chief Larry Thomas officiating. Military Honors were provided by the United States Army. The Fireman's Last Calls was provided by the Fannin County Fire Department. Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge was in charge of arrangements. .
