Mr. J.M. "Goldie" Golden, age 80 of Blue Ridge, GA passed away on Friday at the Heritage Healthcare of Blue Ridge, GA. Mr. Golden was born on March 8, 1933 in Delano, TN to the late Gordon Richard and Laura Golden. He was a member of New Union Baptist Church. He was a member of the Sons of The American Revolution. Mr. Golden served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Golden; sister, Marie Thomas and wife, Helen Smith Golden. Survivors are his wife, Elaine Mason Golden of Blue Ridge, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Nicki and Dennis Fontenot of Sulphur, LA; two sisters, Bertha Nari of McCaysville, GA and Jane Brewer of Blairsville, GA; four grandchildren, Alyson Erikson, Alexander Breaux, Hanna Fontenot and Haylee Fontenot; many nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral services were conducted on Monday, April 22, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Chaplain Jim Crews officiating. Music was by Mary Lou Davis. Pallbearers were Bob Welch, Rick Goss, Dan Mason, Shawn Hood, Josh Hood and Roy Conner. Honorary Pallbearers were Bob Pickleshmer, Kenneth Patterson, Jimmy Hood, Past and Present Employees of Tri-State EMC. Interment followed in Copper Ridge Memory Garden with Full Military Honors provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
