IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jimmy Dale
Woodall, Sr.
July 31, 1932 – November 17, 2023
Jim Woodall, age 91, of Epworth, GA left for his "Heavenly Home" on Friday, November 17th after a brief hospitalization with pneumonia.
Jim was born July 31, 1932 in Woodstock, GA to the late Talmadge Edward and Johnee Sue Chisolm Woodall. He was the second son and the middle child of five children.
Jim's strong work ethic began at age 10 with his first job managing a "huge paper route", and it stayed with him throughout his whole life. In high school, he worked at Bill's Boat House on Altoona Lake, and in 1951, he entered Berry College and continued to work while attending school.
While at Berry, Jim met Juanita Hallum, who would become his wife in 1955 after serving two years in the army in Fort Belvoir, VA. Jim returned to school at George Washington University, graduating in 1959 with a 4-year degree in Government.
After graduation, he began his career working for the government, which continued through the late 90s. During these years, he and Juanita raised three sons - Jim Jr., Michael, and George - who grew up in Loudoun County, VA.
After retiring, Jim and Juanita returned to the "Ole Farm" in Georgia where Juanita had grown up, and they settled down in their new home. Jim enjoyed raising a big garden each year and going to the cannery every summer to put up food for the winter. Jim and Juanita have been blessed that their sons have retired and live nearby on the farm, allowing them to live in their own home.
Jim, Dad, Pappy will be sorely missed by his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Ben Woodall; siblings Wilma, Guy, and Kathryn; and nephew Frank Woodall.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Juanita Hallum Woodall; sons Jim Jr. and his wife Cathy, Michael, and George; and grandchildren Ashley, Tiffany Barnett and her husband Madison, and Sam Woodall; sister Eugena Woodall; and nieces Angela Zubriski, Valerie Patrick, Kay Teems, and Tammy Woodall.
Survivors from Juanita's big family include Betty and Harold Woods, JD and Janie Hallum, Marty Adkison, and Janett Paynter of Scottsmoor, FL; Grover and Debbie Hallum of Gordonville, VA; and Mary Price of Ellijay, GA.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at 12:00 PM from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Dr. Tom Jordan officiating. Music will be provided by Rev. Doug Simonds. Military honors will be provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Interment will follow in the Colwell Baptist Church Cemetery.
