The Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill announces funeral services for Mr. Jimmy Trantham, age 69, of Turtletown, TN who passed away on Tuesday September 15, 2009, in Hamilton County, TN. Born in Cherokee County, NC, he was the son of the late George and Mary Jones Trantham. Mr. Trantham was a member of the Word of God Tabernacle. He had worked for twenty nine years at the Tennessee Copper Company and later retired as a Carpenter. Jimmy was also preceded in death by one brother, Winford Trantham; and two sisters, Gaynelle Parsons and Lucille Panter.Survivors include his wife, June Trantham of the home; three sons and daughter-in-laws, David and Lisa Trantham , Tim and Randa Trantham all of Pack Mountain, NC and Jeff and Devonda Trantham of Turtletown, TN; brothers, Clyde Trantham of Pack Mountain, NC, Elmer Trantham of Burgertown, TN, Alvin Trantham of Pack Mountain, NC, Johnny Trantham of Copperhill, TN, and Roy Trantham of NC; sisters, Georgia Lou Spivey of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Brett Trantham, Brandon Jones, Aaron Jones, Kerry Trantham, Casey Trantham, Taren Trantham, Diana Skinner, and Kim Skinner; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday September 17, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Bryant officiating. Music will be provided by Scott Bryant. Interment will follow in the Macedonia (Wolf Creek) Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Abe Taylor, Winston Jones, Rodney Ensley, Randall Allen, Freddy Bell, and Mike Jarrett.
