The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces the death of Mr. Jimmy Reuben Jones, age 70, of Blue Ridge, GA who passed away on Sunday, October 09, 2011 at his home. Mr. Jones was born in Fannin County, GA on February 4, 1941 to the late George Fairbanks and Effie Estelle Earley Jones. He was a graduate of Georgia Tech with a bachelor's degree in architecture. Mr. Jones was self employed in tax return preparation. He was a member of Damascus Baptist Church. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Jones; a sister, Ezell Davenport and brothers, Marvin and Billy Jones. He was survived by his wife, Loretta Jane Carroll Jones of Blue Ridge; daughters, Teresa Postell of Blue Ridge and Joyce Cantrell and husband, Bruce of Dalton, GA; brothers, George Jones of Louisville, TN, Emon Jones of Acworth, GA, Ray Jones of Dahlonega, GA and Johnny Jones of Cartersville, GA; sisters, Kathleen Dilbeck of Epworth, GA, Lorene Postelle of Ellijay, GA, Shelby Patterson of Blue Ridge, GA and Bettye Chastain of Blue Ridge, GA; grandchildren, Melanie Hall, Seth Shonk, Michael Hall, Ryan Shonk, Justin Ray, Tiffany Huffman, Clementyne Jones, Mason Postell, Morgan Postell, Aryan Jones and D'Artagnan Warren. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Danny Collis officiating. Music will be by Damascus Church Choir. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Seth Shonk, Ryan Shonk, Michael Hall, Justin Ray, Mason Postell, Morgan Postell and Aryan Jones. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, October 10, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Flowers are accepted, but contributions may be made to help defray funeral expenses.
