Obituary

Mrs. Jewell Marjorie Sluder, age 99, of Blue Ridge, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 11, 2025, in Blue Ridge.

Born on October 8, 1925, in Copperhill, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Lester Patterson and Mandy Weeks Patterson. Jewell loved the Lord and was a member of McCaysville Gospel Tabernacle. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend to many.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willard Sluder; her daughter, Linda Hughes; and her siblings: Ed Patterson, Winston Patterson, Max Patterson, Zina Long, and Helen Long.

Jewell is survived by her son, James Sluder; grandchildren, Melissa Fowler and Danny Waters; great-grandchildren, Brandon Fowler, Stephanie Fowler, Abigail Waters, and Patterson Waters; great-great-grandchildren, Cameron Fowler and Sydney Fowler; son-in-law, Edwin Hughes; her dear friend and niece, Ann Patterson; and dear friends, Steve and Thar Wilson.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Brent Carter officiating. Music was provided by Lynn Ward and Teresa Stepp. Interment followed in the Barnes Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Johnny McKinney, Steve Wilson, Richard White, Brandon Fowler, Greg Huskins, and Patterson Waters. The family visited with friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening, September 13, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
