Jessie L. Newman passed away on October 16, 2019 at Salina Reginal Hospital in Salina Kansas. Jessie was born in Blue Ridge Georgia on October 4th 1937 to the late Lewis B. and Amanda Ada Petty Greer. Jessie graduated from Copper Basin High School and later married Jerry Newman. Jerry joined the military soon after their marriage and they moved around to many different places during his career. Jerry passed away in 2010 and Jessie decided to move back to Copperhill she lived there until earlier this year when she then moved to Kansas to be near her Children, Debora Snyder, and Ronald Newman both of Milford Kansas Jessie is survived by her two children, a son-in-law Marty Snyder; three grandchildren Jeremy Snyder of San Antonio Texas, Amy (Russell) Williams of Junction City Kansas, and Candace Smith of Warner Robins, GA; two brothers and sisters-in law, Jerry and Edna Greer of Tifton, GA and Buren and Robin Greer of Dalton, GA. Jessie also has four great grandchildren, Lucas Williams of Junction City, KS and Grace, Noah, and Hannah Snyder of San Antonio, TX; she also has many nieces, nephews and a dear family friend and her care giver for many years Joan Golden of Murphy North Carolina; and her beloved dog Chloe. Jessie was preceded in death by 2 Brothers Lewis F. Greer, and Johnny Greer, 3 sisters Lovella Cochran, Rowena Dunbar, and Shelieta Bice. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, October 20, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Jerry Greer and David Greer officiating. Music was by Sharon Crenshaw and The Greer Family. Pallbearers were Kevin Greer, Rocky Dills, Terry Dills, Jimmy Lynn Dills, Jackie Cochran, and Olin Greer. Interment followed in Hopewell Cemetery.
