Mr. Jessie Gene Millsaps, age 71, of Blue Ridge, Georgia, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, in Canton, Georgia.
Jessie was born on October 22, 1953, in Cashes Valley, Georgia, to the late Hamil Samuel "H.S." Millsaps and Minnie Lee Patterson Millsaps. A man of deep faith, Jessie was a member of New Canaan Baptist Church, where he found joy in worship and fellowship. He worked for many years as a skilled carpenter.
Jessie was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Mary Ann Collis (Rev. Glen Collis), Hamil Millsaps, Jr. (Katherine), Jimmy Millsaps, and Johnny Millsaps.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 46 years, Brenda Millsaps; his daughter and son-in-law, Heather Wingard (Nate); granddaughter, Gracie Watkins; and great-grandson, Colter Rutledge. He is also survived by his siblings, Ruby Barker (Hubert) and Jerry Millsaps (Earlene); along with many extended relatives and dear friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel, with Rev. Keith Brewer and Rev. Jon Millsaps officiating. Special music was provided by the Tankersley Sisters and Rev. Jon Millsaps. Interment followed at the New Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ned Wilcoxon officiating and the men of New Canaan Baptist Church served as pallbearers. Colter Rutledge served as an honorary pallbearer. The family received friends at the funeral home prior to the service, on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
