Mrs. Jessie Ashe Mann, age 87, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL passed away Thursday, February 28, 2008. She was born March 30, 1920 in Higdon, GA, daughter of the late Haven Ashe and Maude Richie Ashe. In 1922, her family moved to Florida where she was raised in Deerfield Beach. She enjoyed a pioneering way of life; swimming in the Hillsboro River and fishing in the Boca Raton Inlet. She married Telford Mann on August 12, 1939. The moved to Fort Lauderdale in 1947 residing at 704 SW 10th Street for 61 years. She was a homemaker, who worked tirelessly to support the Southside Elementary School and PTA, the Girl Scouts of American and was an avid gardener. She and her husband enjoyed a partial retirement to her beloved North Georgia Mountains. She is survived by children, Jesse Mann, Jr. of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Patricia Godbee of Decatur, GA, and Chris Mann of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She was blessed with 8 grandchildren: Katie Worley, Roger Worley, Donna Worley, Diane Worley, Jeff Worley, Beverly Worley, Chris Worley, and Augustus Godbee; and one great grandchild, Jessie Worley. She is further survived by 7 sisters, 3 brothers, and numerous nieces and nephews. The memory of her devotion to her family, her brothers and sisters, and numerous friends will be cherished by all who knew her. A prayer service was held Sunday, March 2, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. from Fred Hunt's Ft. Lauderdale Funeral Home in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
