Mr. Jerry Rodney Robinson, age 78, of Mineral Bluff, GA, passed away on July 3, 2020 in Ellijay, GA. Born 1941 in Live Oak Florida, Rodney Robinson was raised there and in Dade County. After graduating from Suwanee High School with the class of 1960, he began a distinguished 23-year in the United States Air Force. During that time, he saw many changes as an aircraft maintainer, including aircraft technology and maintenance modernization. During the Vietnam War, he served in both the Philippines and Thailand. He was also stationed in Germany and other stateside assignments with his family. After he retired from active duty, he continued to support the Air Force as a contractor until 2003.
Rodney married Linda Miller, the love of his life, June 2nd, 1962. Theyve had many great adventures since. Rodney is a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, granddaddy and great granddaddy. He was always a great influence on the youth that have known him. He loved working with his hands gardening, woodwork, tinkering and paining. He enjoyed the outdoors, alone or with family, camping and fishing. He had a lifelong love for animals. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Linda Robinson; sons and daughters-in-law, Christian E. and Trina Robinson of Waco, TX and Rodney Scott and JoAnn Moran Robinson of Ft. Myers, FL; brother, Donald T. Robinson and wife, Sue of Live Oak, FL; sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara Ann King of Panama City, FL, Sandra D. and Claude Starling and Theresa and Don Allen all of Live Oak, FL; grandchildren, Christian C. Robinson, Kristin R. Wise, Corey S. Robinson, Jessica Ruth Stodter, Rodney Wade Robinson and Hunter D. Moran; great grandchildren, Lucas Jett Robinson, Harper Robinson and Thea Marie Robinson; nephew, Malachi Skinner.
Memorial Services were conducted on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Scott Robinson officiating. Military honors were provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a Hospice Organization of your choice.
