The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces the death of Mr. Jerry Allen Martin, age 58, of Blue Ridge, Ga., who passed away Sunday, February 22, 2009, at the Veterans Hospital in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Mr. Martin was a self employed carpenter and was a member of Harvest Missionary Church. He Served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Tillman Martin. He is survived by his wife Hazel Verlie (Norton) Martin of the home; two daughters, Tammy Chastain of Blue Ridge, Ga. and Sonya Phillips of Auburn, Ga., two sons, Jammie Martin of Mcdonough, Ga. and Mitchell Martin of Blue Ridge, Ga., his mother and step-father, Lois and John Baptist of Jasper, Ga., three sisters, Barbara Salyer of Clewiston, Fla., Reba Diane Watters of Rome, Ga., and Wanda Perry of Gadsden, Ala., two brothers, James Tillman Martin of Collinsville, Ala., and Marty Martin of Edgewater, Fla., nine grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, February 25 at 3:00 PM from the Akins Chapel with Rev. Denny Hawkins and Rev. Glen Arnold officiating. Interment will be at Sugar Creek Church Cemetery with military honors by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Josh Chastain, Brett Tankersley, Joshua, Justin and P. J.
