Jerry David Arp, formerly of Hampton, GA, and recently of Talking Rock, GA, passed away June 14, 2021 in Jasper, GA. He was 80 years old. Born in Mineral Bluff, GA, on April 6, 1941, to the late Wade Wesley and Nell Virginia Bell Arp, Jerry was a 1961 graduate of East Fannin High School. He worked the assembly line for General Motors Lakewood until its closing, and, later, retired as a pharmaceutical courier for Associated Couriers.He was of the Christian faith. As an avid gardener, he enjoyed the outdoors and nature. He had a tender spot for birds and animals, and though he never had the heart to kill an animal, he was a gifted amateur taxidermist who enjoyed preserving Gods creation. He loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. His early years, were spent coaching youth sports, not only for his children but many in the community. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty years, Linda Breeden Arp. Survivors include his children, Angie Arp of Griffin, GA and David and Connie Arp of Talking Rock, GA, his grandchildren, Britany and Brad Howard, Billy Fowler and fiance, Bree Williams and Emma McDaniel all of Talking Rock, GA; great grandchildren, Braylen Howard of Talking Rock, GA, Maci Fowler of Ellijay, GA and Wyatt Williams also of Talking Rock, GA; his siblings, Claire Arp of Mineral Bluff, GA, Sybil and Robert Brown of McCaysville, GA, Morgan Arp of Blue Ridge, GA, Sid and Sharon Arp of Epworth, GA and Richard P. Arp of Mineral Bluff, GA; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be conducted on Friday, June 18, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Arp officiating. Interment will follow in the Chastain Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the animal shelter or rescue of your choice.
