Obituary

Mr. Jerry William Allen, age 51, of Mineral Bluff, GA passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at his home. Mr. Allen was born on August 29, 1960 in Copperhill, TN. He worked as a truck driver for Mickey Michael Trucking. Mr. Allen attended Bethany Church and Freedom Fellowship Church. He worked in the Living Free Jail Ministry and was a Cherokee Indian with the Overhill Nation of Tellico where his given name was "Man-Mountain Bear." He was preceded in death by his mother, Beautell Payne Allen and a daughter, Casey Runions. He is surived by his wife, Lisa Runions Allen of Mineral Bluff, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Jason William Allen and Kristin Allen of Blue Ridge, Jonathan Runions and Katie Runions of Blue Ridge, GA and Joshua Runions of Isabella, TN; father and stepmother, Bill and Wanda Allen of Blairsville, GA; grandmother, Ella Allen of Blue Ridge; brothers and sisters-in-law, Terry Lee Allen and Laura Allen of McCaysville, GA, Donnie Joe Allen and Nancy Allen of McCaysville, GA, and Larry Otis Allen and Joy Allen of Dallas, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Martha Michael and Chuck Bomboy of Ahus, OK; and grandchildren, Jason William Allen, Jr., Summer Anne Marie Runions, Autumn Vandera Louise Runions, and Joshua Runions. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Delmar Davenport and Pastor William Ashe officiating. Music was by Back to Bethany and Denny Cook. Pallbearers were Bruce Tucker, Ricky Patterson, Rocky Mullins, Jerry Gilliam, Danny Russell, Mike Walz, and Terry Caulder. Honorary pallbearers were Linda Davis, Glen Dilbeck, Jason William Allen, Jr., Bill Allen, David Walz, Chuck Bomboy, Gary Dillingham, and Greg Bomboy. Following the service, Mr. Allen was honored by his Indian Nation with a traditional Native American Ceremony led by Man-Many Trees and other council members of the Cherokee Decendents.
