Jeffie Diane Barnes, age 62, of Mineral Bluff, GA passed away on August 8, 2022, after losing her battle with cancer. She retired in 2021 and was a member of the Baptist faith. You could say she was born to take charge, being the first-born child with two younger brothers. Growing up with them is probably where she honed the skill of keeping people in linealthough the look she gave that could stop anyone in their tracks may have taken a few more years to perfect. She was a devoted wife and loving mother who in her earlier years managed a career and two girls at home while her husband worked nights and even out of town for a stretch. Later, she managed a retired husband and three granddaughters (which may have been more challenging than the corporate life and carpool of her 20s and 30s). She was lucky enough to find an occupation where she not only excelled but could then transition from a profession into a true labor of love. She spent over a decade in the corporate world and then worked with two Christian school ministries that were close to her heart, saying she "may not make a lot of money, but I feel like Im working for the Lord." She also had the pleasure of working at the very school her grandchildren attended which endeared her as "Granny" to many more children through the years. She is preceded in death by her parents John Lewis Todd and Wanda Todd Collins; and a brother, John Todd, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Gene Barnes; daughters, Kristin (William) McKune and Amber Dahling; grandchildren, Naomi Dahling, Gabby Dahling, and Hannah Dahling; a brother, Tony (Shellie) Todd; and a sister-in-law, Patti Todd along with many other family members and friends. The funeral service celebrating Mrs. Barnes life will be held on Friday, August 12, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Akins-Cobb in Blue Ridge. Interment will follow the service at Union Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Chris Kirkpatrick, Josh Stanford, Todd Vandiver, Randy Roberts, and John Kinser. Honorary pallbearers will include W.C. Collins, Judy Collins, Joanna Kirkpatrick, Kayla Stanford, Stephanie Watkins, and Mariam Sanson.
