Gloria Jean "Jeanie" Franklin Thomas, age 68, of Morganton, GA, passed away on October 14, 2017. Born in Akron, OH, she was the daughter of the late Bill and Margie Pelfrey Franklin. She was a member of the Bethany Church. She loved spending time with her family and friends; especially her granddaughter, Amber Dickey. Jeanie was a loving mother, grandmother and friend who loved planting flowers, decorating and sewing. She loved being outside and listening to her favorite music. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Debbie Franklin. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Jeffrey Holloway; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Gary and Linda Franklin of Conyers, GA, and Billy and Charlotte Franklin of McCaysville, GA; granddaughter, Amber Dickey; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Akins Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Dickey officiating. Music was provided by Joey Cook. Interment followed in the New Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Terry Hedden, Carl Franklin, Clarence Franklin, Kevin Franklin, Rodney Patterson and Mann Patterson.
