Mrs. Janie Shepherd Key, age 85, of Cherrylog, GA, passed away at home on August 6th, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family. She was a 1954 graduate of Grady School of Nursing in Atlanta, GA. She retired from Kennestone Hospital, where she was a neurosurgical nurse, in 1998. Janie was also a member of the Temple Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; Revel and Bertha Shepherd, her sister Linda Shepherd and brother Calvin Shepherd. Survivors include husband Earl Key, her daughters Kandy Key of Chattanooga,TN and Wendy Capstick of Blairsville, GA and her son Woody Key of Kennesaw, GA; her brothers Bill Shepherd of Melrose, FL, Jesse Shepherd of Archer, FL, and Bob Shepherd of Archer, FL; five grand children and eight great grand children. Memorial services were held on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 12 noon from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Dr. Roger Beck officiating. Music was provided by Greg Norton and Gill Farmer.
