Janie Mae Bearden (Gray) devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, 75, of Blue Ridge died March 10, 2025 in her home with family. Born in Copperhill, TN, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Hancil Gray and Willa Nell Gray. She was in the school system for 37 years. She was a member of the Hiawassee Church of Christ.
She was survived by her husband, Bobby Bearden of the home; daughter, Tressa Carter (Bobby Thompson); son, Delane Bearden both of Blue Ridge, GA; grandkids, Haylee Shephard, Brooklyn Bearden, Payton Bearden, Ashley Carter (Josh Anderson), and Hannah Carter; great-grandkids, Madalyn Stillwell, Grant Garrett, Jackson Anderson, Sawyer Anderson, Delaney Pero, and Fallin Shephard; mother, Willa Nell Gray; sister, Ann Lingerfelt; and brother, Jimmy Gray all of Blue Ridge, GA.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Bobby Bearden, Rev. Scott Mathis, and Minister Butch Jones officiating. Music was provided by Shannon Bearden. Serving as pallbearers were Bobby Thomspon, Josh Anderson, Neal Warren, Shawn Stillwell, Charlie Shephard, Eli Allen, and Gage Pero. Serving as an honorary escort were the Fannin County Tax Assessors Office Staff. Interment followed in the church cemetery at Macedonia Church of Christ with her grandaughter Brooklyn Bearden to read some words. The family visited with friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 14, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday, March 15, 2025, prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
During the 54 years the couple shared, her husband being a metal artist, they traveled to many places selling metal yard art. They traveled places like Boone, NC, Banner Elk, NC, the Cherry Blossom Festival in Macon, GA, Cotton Fair in Gay, GA, the Cornbread Festival in South Pittsburgh, TN, Lenoir City Arts & Crafts Festival in Lenoir, TN, Rose Lawn in Cartersville, GA, Arts in the Park in Blue Ridge, GA, Sorghum Festival in Blairsville, GA, and several other festivals.
She will be remembered for the love she had for her family, and the love for the community where she lived.
