Mrs. Janice "Donita" Van Tassell, age 56, of Blue Ridge, GA passed away on Saturday October 3, 2009 in the Fannin Regional Hospital. Born in Gastonia, NC she was the daughter of the late Donald and Janice Croft Painter. Mrs. Van Tassell was a loving mother and devoted wife. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses of Blue Ridge where she always put others first through her thoughtfulness and giving.Survivors include her husband of thirty two years of marriage, Lewis Van Tassell of Blue Ridge, GA; son, Travis Van Tassell of Blue Ridge, GA; two daughters and one son-in-law, Tisa and Peter Yuknevich of Pine Bush, NY and Tonya Van Tassell of Blue Ridge, GA; grandchild Payne William Yuknevich of Pine Bush, NY, sister and brother-in-law; Judith D. and Mickey Hulsey of Cherrylog, GA; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many friends also survive.Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday October 7, at 11:00 a.m. from the Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Murphy, NC with Brother Barry Stuart officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Norman Van Tassell, Dan Colwell, Jake Colwell, Mickey Hulsey, Peter Yuknevich, and Jarrod Eggloff. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6-9 p.m. A memorial service will be conducted in her memory on Saturday October 10th at 7:00 p.m. from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses of Blue Ridge with Brother Daniel Allen officiating.
