The Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill announces funeral services for Janice Kathlene Parks, age 44, of Blue Ridge, GA, who passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2010 in the Northside Cherokee Hospital in Canton, GA. Janice was a native of the Copper Basin area and was employed in healthcare as a CNA. She had worked several years at Papa's Pizza in McCaysville where she was affectionately known as the "Pizza Queen" . She was of the Church of God Faith and was preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Womble Miller. She is survived by one son, Cpl. Timothy Jacob Parks of the U.S. Marines Corp stationed in Beaufort, S.C. and daughter, Tabitha Parks of Chattanooga, TN; father, Amos Miller of Copperhill, TN; brothers, Cecil and wife Pat Miller of Cleveland, TN, Ronnie and wife Calla Mae Miller of Farner, TN; sisters, Evelyn and husband, Leon Ledford of Old Fort, TN, Ellen and husband John Grizzell of Blue Ridge, GA; Special Companion and Care Giver, Marcus Gutierrez of Blue Ridge, GA; Many other relatives and friends survive. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 26th at 3:00 P.M. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Roger Hyatt and Pastor John Prater officiating. Music will be by Calla Mae Miller and Tammy Hall. Pallbearers include Charles Price, Butch Anderson, Michael Davis, Jonathan Grizzell, Jacob Parks and Brandon Beavers. Interment will follow in the Community Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
