Obituary

Janet Sparks Deaver, born March 10th, 1930, died September 21st, 2013. She lived in The Resting Nest in Gainesville, GA. Her last few hours were a God-given gift to her family. Her life began in Hemptown, GA on Sparks Road growing up with nine brothers & sisters and childhood friends throughout the community. She worked at a Blue Ridge mill right out of high school. Her career as a mother started in the early 50's and still continues beyond where her physical presence ended. She made a home for her family in so many places and circumstances. Locations like Detroit, San Francisco, San Antonio, Massachusetts, Virginia, England, and Germany were her homes before coming back to Georgia. All through life events she was strong and giving to others. Always known for her friendship, quick wit, and good advice, she encouraged everyone around her. She was the fourth child of Ralph & Jessie Sparks. She was preceded by her son Orpheus Erwin Deaver, Jr., her daughter-in-law Kathy Deaver, her grandson Christopher Warren Deaver and her sisters: Elga Burrell, Ramona Harper, and Lagree Lawson; her brothers Clarence Sparks, Buel Sparks, Edison Sparks and Mercier Sparks. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Janet Thomas, her son-in-law Tim Thomas, her grandsons, Orpheus Deaver, III (Trey) and Brett Deaver, her granddaughter Dawnn Deaver, her sister and brother-in-law Janice and James Jarrard, and her sister Neva Jahnz.The family has asked for donations in lieu of flowers to either the Alzheimer's Association or the Liberty Hill United Methodist Church cemetery fund. The family would like to personally thank The Resting Nest for the love, support, and dignity given to "Miss Net". Funeral services were held Monday, September 23, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Gerie Worley officiating. A eulogy was given by Lisa Dishman. Music was provided by Teresa Ross, Judy Thomas, and Sherry Franklin. The family enjoyed desserts provided by the Liberty Methodist Church per Mrs. Deaver's request prior to the funeral hour of 7:00 p.m. Interment followed at a later time in the Liberty Hill Methodist Cemetery.
