Janet Lynn Buttram, 68 of Gainesville passed away Saturday August 12, 2023, at her home.

Born March 22, 1955, in Miami, Fla. to Robert P. Duncan and M. Jean Duncan. Mrs. Buttram attended schools at Miami Christian School through the 9th grade, then to West Fannin High School in Blue Ridge, Ga through 12th grade. She married Winston F. Buttram June 8, 1974, celebrating their 49th anniversary this year.

A member of Riverbend Church (formally First Baptist Church of Oakwood) for 40 years. For many years, Janet was a team leader that cooked meals for the youth, feeding thousands over the years. She organized an online prayer team of prayer warriors that have prayed for multitudes of people both local and worldwide. She taught multiple age groups of Sunday School over the years. Mrs. Buttram retired from real estate after several years as an agent.

Janet cherished being out in nature. She loved Yellowstone National Park, Hawaii, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and Cades Cove in the Smokies. She never met a mountain she didn't like.

The joys of her life were her service to Jesus, her husband, daughter, son-in-law and her first grandchild, Owen.

Mrs. Buttram is survived by her husband, Winston Buttram, of Gainesville, daughter, Sandi Buttram and son-in-law, Brian Dycus, grandson Owen of Norcross, Ga., sister, Robin Chopra of Kodak, Tn., Sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Waldo Davis of Blue Ridge, Ga., and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday August 15, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Fenlon and Rev. Ben Wallis will officiate. Interment will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Friendship Church #3 Cemetery in Blue Ridge, Ga., with Rev. Randall Reed officiating. The family will receive friends at Little & Davenport Funeral Home Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
