Mr. James Samuel Womble, age 89, of Farner passed away July 9, 2024 at his home. He was born in Polk County, TN on July 3, 1935. Mr. Womble worked for Tennessee Chemical Company as a mine foreman for many years. He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church. He was a long time member of the Ducktown Masonic Lodge #241 F&AM. He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Womble; mother, Cora Womble; sister, Nancy Raper; nephew, Danny Raper; son-in-law, Adam Taylor; grandson, Nathaniel Womble; and great-granddaughter, Rylie Mae Mason.
He is survived by his wife, Paula Womble; son, Darren (Kristin) Womble; daughters, Karen Womble and Jessica (Brence) Mason; step children, Hope Taylor and Shawn Key; 5 grandchildren, and 6 step grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 2:00 PM from the Akins-Cobb of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Mitchell Allen officiating. Music was provided by Meritta Trantham. Military honors were provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Masonic rites were given by the Ducktown Masonic Lodge #241 F&AM. Interment followed in the Turtletown Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Shawn Key, Hunter Graves, Dakota Key, Eddie Allen, Derek Allen, Frankie Womble, and Johnny Womble. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Ducktown Masonic Lodge #241 F&AM.
