James Walter Vaughn, Jr., age 61, of Morganton, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024 at his home. He was born on January 22, 1963 in Atlanta, to the late James Walter "Granny" Vaughn, Sr. and Martha Jane Pilgrim Vaughn. James will be remembered for being caring, loving, and his willingness to go out of his way for others. He enjoyed fishing, camping, mountain biking, lawn care, gardening, swimming, joking, and kids.

He is survived by his son, Tyler Vaughn (Sandra); step-son, Daniel Bentley; grandchildren, Logan, Freya, Dominic, Nathan, and Brie; and sister, Beth (Rickey) Warbington.

A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.
