Mr. James Clifford Stepp, age 77, of Blue Ridge, Georgia passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023. He was born on August 11, 1945 in Blue Ridge, Georgia to the late Lloyd James and Nellie Jane Foster Stepp. He was a veteran of the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He retired from Bell South, which later became AT&T as an installer and repairman. He owned and operated Buckeye Pawn and Jewelry in Blue Ridge for over 30 years. He loved to travel and spend time with his family. He was an avid coin collector, fisherman, and enjoyed going to the casino. James was a born again Christian and of the Baptist Faith. He was a member of Bethany Church. He was a good man and loved the Lord and his family. He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Tonya Stewart.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 and a half years, Carolyn Stepp of the home; son, Clark Stepp (Jenna) of Epworth, Ga; daughters,Gina Austin of Decherd, Tn and Karen Stuart Forrester of the home; brother, Paul (Penny) Stepp of Blue Ridge, Ga; sister, Sandy Stepp Johnstone (Jeff) of Blue Ridge, Ga; grandchildren, Nathan Hammers, Lindsey Hammers, Zachary Hammers, and Loranna Watkins; and great-grandchildren, Hayden Hammers, Cameron Hammers, Katalina Hammers, Zayde Hammers, and Henley Watkins.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Daniel Postell and Garry Capita officiating. Music will be provided by Mr. Edward Vest. Interment will follow at the Friendship #3 Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Chuck Tallent, Greg Tallent, Hunter Raper, Josh Golden, Jeff Johnstone, and David Guy Jr. Selected to serve as honorary pallbearers are the staff of Blue Ridge Medical Transport, Pruitt Home Health Care, DaVita Dialysis Clinic of Ellijay, Dr. Sabreem, and Dr. Shefield with the Blairsville V.A. Clinic. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, August 9, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The family asks that all memorial contributions be made in honor of his daughter Karen to the Fannin County Brain Injury Support Group c/o Carolyn Stepp at 2116 Blue Ridge Drive Blue Ridge, Georgia 30513.
