April 14, 1935 – June 18, 2025
Mr. James Renus Petty, age 90, of Mineral Bluff, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on April 14, 1935 in Mineral Bluff, Georgia to the late Joseph Bascom Petty and Velvie Pittman Petty.
James worked as a foreman for many years at the Trenton Michigan Chrysler Engine Plant. He then retired to Mineral Bluff, Georgia, where he worked as a bus driver for the Fannin County School System.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Herdis Petty, Beaddie Panter, and Roy Petty.
James is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Juanita Petty; children, Diane Newsome (Ricky Morgan), Danny Petty (Jen), and Donna Evans. He had the pleasure of raising his grandchildren, Juanita Gillie and Christina Sluce, as well as great grandchild Caitlyn Richardson- who they all proudly called Daddy. Along with those that he raised, he was also blessed with five grandchildren and five bonus grandchildren, as well as 25 great grandchildren. He also had a special great great grandchild on the way. Also surviving are siblings, Aleece Sutton, JoLynn Hezlep (Samuel), and Doyle Petty.
Funeral services were held on Monday, June 23, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Mark Huff, Rev. Allen Pickelsimer, and Min. Danny Petty officiating. Music was provided by Pam Godfrey. Interment followed in the Church of Christ Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Dee Dee, DiLP, Tito, Kato, Corky, Ash Babes, and Sami. Serving as honorary pallbearers were: Michael James Sullivan, Anthony Herrera, and Kris Richardson. Masonic rites were issued by Mineral Bluff Lodge #483 F&AM. Family visited with friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening, June 22, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
