James William "Bill" Hunter, age 75, of Blue Ridge, GA passed away on May 30, 2024 at his home. Born in Fannin County, GA on April 25, 1949, he was the son of the late Everett Y. and Bessie Virginia Couch Hunter. Bill was a member of the Maple Grove Baptist Church in Turtletown, TN. He loved spending time with his family and receiving attention from them as well. He was an active member of the Fannin County Brain Injury Support Group. Bill was also preceded in death his wife, Mildred Olvey; an infant daughter, Tammy Lynn Hunter; and one infant brother, Charles Hunter.
Survivors include his siblings and their spouses, Carolyn Stepp, Paul and Charlotte Hunter all of Blue Ridge, GA, Sarah Hunter, Margaret Hunter both of the home, Kenneth "Buster" and Vicki Sue Hunter of Turtletown, TN and Virginia Elliott and fiancee Steve Davenport of Ellijay; special niece, Karen Forrester; and a host of other nieces, nephews and other relatives and good friends.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Jonathan Smith officiating. Family prayer was led by Rev. Gary Capita. Music was provided by the Smith family. Interment followed in the Friendship #3 Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Clark Stepp, Chuck Tallent, Kenny Hunter, Hunter Raper, C.J. Tallent and David Guy. Selected to serve as honorary pallbearers are Rev. Mitchell Taylor, Scott Chancey, Greg Tallent, Rev. Gary Capita, Assist Home Care, and Pruitts Home Care.
