Mr. James Herman Hughes, age 76, of Ducktown, TN passed away on Monday, October 5, 2009 at Copper Basin Medical Center in Ducktown, TN. He was born in Polk County, TN on July 16, 1933 to the late George Homer and Clyde Liza Worley Hughes. Mr. Hughes was retired from Tennessee Copper Company as a railroad brakeman. He was a member and deacon of Mount Vernon Baptist Church. Mr. Hughes served his country in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by a son, James Randall Hughes; two brothers, Rufus and Paul Hughes and sister, Marie Adams. Survivors include wife, Omega Wise Hughes of Ducktown, TN; son, Tim Hughes of Cleveland, TN; daughters, Donna Faye and husband, Steve Tresslar of Ducktown, TN and Mitzi Hughes of Copperhill, TN; sister, Mable Henson of Chattanooga, TN; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survives. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, October 8, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. from Mount Vernon Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Harper and Rev. Doug Howard officiating. Music was by Ed Vest and Robin Hughes. Interment followed in the church cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Todd Sparks, Brady Miller, Stacey Howard, Russell O'Neal, Mark Loudermilk and Russ Loudermilk. Honorary pallbearers were Mitchell Loudermilk, Gerald Chancey, Jerry Hyde, Freddy Hyde, Benny Loudermilk, Larry Cheek, Rob Bell, Danny Allison and Dr. Allen Uhlik.
