Obituary

James "Travis" Huffman, age 74, of Blue Ridge, Georgia, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025, in Canton, Georgia. He was born on July 30, 1950, in Copperhill, Tennessee, to the late J.T. "Duck" Huffman and Martha Rae Pack Huffman.

Travis was of the Baptist faith and Master Mason.He served for 28 years of dedicated service as a sheriff's deputy with the Fannin County Sheriff's Department. Travis had a passion for collecting guns and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jeremy Callihan; brother, Markie Huffman; and sister, Debbie Newman.

Travis is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Shirley Huffman of the home; children, Heather (Clarke) Austin of Newnan, GA, Millicent Huffman of Newnan, GA, Billy (Lina) Callihan of Mineral Bluff, GA, and Jim (Jennifer) Callihan of Epworth, GA; grandchildren, Amanda Austin, Luke Austin, Isabella Austin, Dillon Callihan, Cayla (Kevin) Teague, Cassie (Matt) Wilson, and Caroline (Matthew) Gray; eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sandra Huffman; brother-in-law, Greg Newman; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.

Funeral services were held on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. from the Lebanon Baptist Church with Rev. Denny Hawkins officiating. Special music was provided by David Anderson. Interment followed in the Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Todd Pack, JK Davenport, Joel Pack, Tommy Woody, Anthony Walden, Jordan Walden, Matt Wilson, and Kevin Teague. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Luke Austin, Rex Helton, Donnie Dockery, Jerry Pack, George Watkins, Joe Hughes, Larry Clemmons, BJ Taylor, Larry Davenport, John Chastain, Greg Newman, Frank Pless, and Richard Argo. The family visited with friends at the church prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour of 1:00 p.m.
