Obituary

Mr. James C. Ensley, age 50 of Blue Ridge, passed away on Friday October 19, 2007 at his home. Born in Fannin County, he was the son of the late Warren H. Ensley and Edna Cabe Ensley. Mr. Ensley graduated from West Fannin High School in 1975. Later he earned his L.P.N. license and at the time of his death was working toward his bachelor's degree from Brenau University in Gainesville, GA in Nursing Management. Mr. Ensley worked for Fannin Regional Hospital in the Emergency Room Department and Laboratory. He also worked at the Heritage Health Care in Blue Ridge and the Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville, GA. James was also one of the founding members of the Fannin Fire Department which began in 1974. He worked as an E.M.T. and Fire Fighter for Fannin County from 1987 until 2003. Mr. Ensley had over thirty years experience in driving and operating large fire apparatus and rescue vehicles including ambulances with an accident free record. Survivors include two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gene and Katy Ensley and Roy Clark and Cindy Ensley all of Blue Ridge, GA; nephews and nieces, Chad Ensley of Arlington, VA, Chris Allen of Denver, CO, Brian Allen of Cleveland, TN, Vicki Pennington of Denver, CO; uncles and aunts, Gilbert Ensley of Marietta, GA, Rachael Barnes of Epworth, GA and Junior Cabe of Newport, TN.Funeral services were conducted on Monday October 22, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge with Rev. Billy Ray Queen officiating. A eulogy was given by members of the Fannin County EMA. Music was provided by The Beach Family. The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Bobby Long, Robert Graham, Larry Waters, Bill Jones, Tony Petty and Tracy Davenport. Members of the Fannin County EMA, EMS and Fire department served as honorary pallbearers. Interment followed in the Copper Ridge Memory Gardens with the Fireman's Last Call provided by the Fannin County Fire Department.
