The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces funeral services for Mr. James Edwin Panter, 84, of Ducktown, TN, who passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Life Care of Copper Basin in Ducktown, TN He was born in Polk County, TN on Sunday, August 21, 1927 to the late Olin Edwin and Ruby Gilliam Panter. Mr. Panter was a member of McCaysville Methodist Church. He was retired from Cities Service with thirty-seven years of service in the railroad department as a brakeman conductor. He was preceded in death by his two wives, Gwendolyn Delores Panter and Christine Franks Panter and sister, Louise Stump.Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Lynn and Julie Panter of McCaysville, GA and Ed and Julie Panter of McCaysville, GA; daughter, Debbie Carlton of Peachtree City, GA; five grandchildren, Michael Panter, Jennifer Needham, Danah Harrison, Nichole Brummitt and Will Panter; three great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Harrison, Riley Renee Panter and Mackenzie Harrision.Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Dr. Tom Jordan officiating. Music will be by William Wright. Pallbearers will be B.J. Taylor, Larry Joe Sosbee, Marty Godfrey, Ronnie White and Russell Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Junior Queen, past employees of the railroad department of Cities Service/TN Copper Company and Jack Ganus. Interment will follow in the First Baptist Church of Epworth Cemetery.
