James Howard Dickey, age 84, of Epworth, Georgia passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at his home. He was born on March 4, 1940 in McCaysville, Georgia to the late Edward A. Dickey and Georgia Gertrude Lackey Dickey. He worked for many years as a diesel mechanic for the Tennessee Copper Company, working on trains. James was a devout Christian, and served the Lord for fifty years as a preacher. He was an instrumental influence in building Bethany Church in Epworth, Georgia. Above all, he loved his family and his church.
James is preceded in death by his parents; son, James Steven Dickey; grandson, David A. Dickey; great-grandchildren, Jentzen James Dickey and Davanee Ann Dickey; sister, Christine Waters; and brother, Eddie Dickey.
He is survived by his children, Vickie Parris of Dalton, GA and Debbie Dickey of Epworth, GA; grandchildren, Travis Norton (Deena) of Blue Ridge, GA, Annette Archie (Doug) of Calara, AL, Robin Reeves of Epworth, GA, Robert Patterson (Amber) of Morganton, GA, T.J. Dickey (Jessica) of Epworth, GA, Josh Dickey of McCaysville, GA, Jonah Dickey (Karlie) of Copperhill, TN, and Austin Dickey (Mary) of Copperhill, TN; great-grandchildren, Dakota Archie, Mayah Brummitt, Haylee Franklin, Hope Franklin, Riley Reeves, Natalie Reeves. Brady Reeves, Brooke Norton, Tyler Norton, Lynnex Patterson, Case Patterson, Rogan Dickey, Judd Dickey, Pearl Dickey, Dessie Jo Dickey, Elias Dickey, Ezekiel Dickey, Emily Dickey, Mallory Dickey, and Chasity Heaton; great-great grandchildren, Bellamy Heaton, Kullen James Heaton, Aerolyn Archie, Gatlin Archie, and Malakai Ledbetter; siblings, Joe Dickey of Ducktown, TN, Juline Mixon of Nashville, TN, and Carolyn Walters of Macon, GA; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
The family hosted a celebration of life on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bethany Church.
