Mr. James William Davenport, age 72, of Epworth passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2007 in the Fannin Regional Hospital in Blue Ridge. Born in Fannin County, he was the son of the late Garfield Matthew Davenport and Alice Mandy Foster. He was a member of McCaysville Church of Christ and was a United States Army veteran. He was preceded in death by a brother C.L. Davenport.
He is survived by his wife, Velma Jones Davenport of the home; sons, William Keith "P.J." Davenport of Chatsworth, GA; James Kelvin "Porky" Davenport of Chatsworth, and Jesse Sean Davenport and his wife Lenora of Chatsworth; brothers, Charlie Davenport of Chatsworth, Delmar Davenport of Epworth, and Wheeler Davenport of Chatsworth; sisters, Dorothy Patterson of Cleveland, OH, Jewell McCoy of Stockbridge, GA, and Estalene Burgess of Morganton, GA; 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, August 10, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Min. Bill Johnston and Min. Keith Ritchie officiating. Pallbearers were Ricky Burgess, Randy Burgess, Rex Burgess, Ray Burgess, Kenny Weeks, and Jon Weeks. Interment followed in Macedonia Church of Christ Cemetery.
Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge was in charge of arrangements.
