The Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill announces the death of James Compton Cooper, age 87, of Murphy, NC who passed away Tuesday, January 22nd. Mr. Cooper was a native of Schenectady, New York and was retired as an Attorney for the State of New York. He was an active member of St. Catherine Catholic Church and a Veteran of W W II having served in the US Army.He is survived by special friend and caretaker, Darlene Akens of Farner, TN; several nieces, nephews and a host of other friends. He will also be sadly missed by his beloved dog, Roscoe.A funeral mass will be conducted Friday, January 25th at 11:00 A.M. from the St. Catherine Catholic Church with Father Bede celebrant. Burial will follow in the Vale Cemetery in Schenectady, NY.
