The Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill announces the death of Irene Lela Jones, age 81, of Ducktown, TN, who passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2011. Irene was a native of the Copper Basin area and was a daughter of the late Jerry and Rosa Adeline Trantham Jones. She was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. Irene loved helping and doing for others. She is survived by brother, Morris (Rosa) Jones of Copperhill, TN; sisters, Dollene Jordan of Richmond, IN, Hazel Collins of Copperhill, TN; Nieces and nephews, Mike Jordan of Richmond, IN, Brian Collins of Copperhill, TN, Tammy Brooks of Murphy, NC, Tina Taylor of Coker Creek, TN, Tonya Wallace of Cleveland, TN and Jack Jones of Sweetwater, TN. Many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 8th at 3:00 PM from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Don Padgett and Rev. Kenny Taylor officiating. Music will be by the New Zion Trio. Pallbearers include Mark Brooks, Nathan Wallace, Jack Jones, Brian Collins, Wade Collins, Jr. and Raymond Stover. Honorary pallbearers include Leland Burger and Michael Jordan. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
