Obituary

Mr. Hurley Glenn Wilson, age 83, of Morganton passed away Sunday, January 27, 2008 in the North Georgia Medical Center in Ellijay, GA. Born in Fannin County, he was the son of the late Avery Wilson and Dovie Picklesimer Wilson. He was self-employed in commercial refrigeration. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church, and was a United States Navy veteran serving in World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Venice Miller Wilson, and two brothers, Lester Wilson and Billy Dean Wilson. He is survived by three sons, Roger Wilson and Danny Wilson, both of Ellijay, and Terry Wilson of Morganton; four daughters, Brenda Ratcliff of Morganton, Beverly Painter of Talladega, AL, Lisa Stanley of Blue Ridge, and Pam Smith of Hartwell, GA; brothers, Eugene Wilson of Seneca, SC, Truman Wilson of Blue Ridge; sisters, Neva Warren of Morganton, Emma Jane Neeley of South Line, Michigan, and Juanita Cole of Morganton, GA; 17 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Roger Burgess and Dr. Tom Jordan officiating. Music was by the Harmony Church Choir. The following grandsons served as pallbearers: Richie Painter, Victor Wilson, Sean Ratcliff, Andy Wilson, Matthew Wilson, Jason painter, Heath Stanley, and Ryan Sterley. The following great grandsons served as honorary pallbearers: Nathan Davenport, Cody Ratcliff, Bryce Wilson, Colton Wilson, Joshua Painter, and Tanner Ratcliff. Graveside services followed in Chastain Memorial Park with Rev. Hal Painter officiating. Military honors were by North Georgia Honor Guard.
