Mr. Hoyt James Thomas, Sr. age 83, of Ducktown, TN who passed away on January 8, 2010 at Copper Basin Medical Center in Copperhill, TN. Mr. Thomas was born in Blue Ridge, GA on April 24, 1926 to the late Carl and Froney Payne Thomas. He was retired from Dills Construction in Daytona Beach, FL as a truck driver. Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Foster Thomas. Survivors include a son, Hoyt J. Thomas, Jr. of Ducktown, TN; a sister, Maudeline Cowart of Dalton, GA; a grandchild and husband, Barbara and Paul Gribble of Ducktown, TN; six great grandchildren, Joseph, Ashley and Justin Teem, Jonathan, Josh and Jeremy Gribble; three great-grandchildren, Isaac Gribble, David Taylor II and Eli Gribble also survive. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Henry Payne and Rev. Delmar Davenport officiating. Interment followed in the Hipps Chapel Community Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gary Crain, Ben Crain, Kyle Park, James Chandler, Greg Kimsey and David Taylor.
